Two young men have been arrested by the police in Sekondi in the
Western Region after being found with a human skull.

The suspects—Isaac Kwaku Agyapong, 20, and
Shamuzu Mohammed, 18—are believed to be involved in the trading of human parts in the
metropolis.

They were reported to have claimed that they exhumed the skull
from the Asemasudu Cemetery, near Sekondi.

Some residents of Sekondi claimed that the two suspects travelled
with the skull in a jute sack from Asemda in the Ellembelle District to sell in
Sekondi when they were arrested.

A resident, Leonard Samuel Lamptey, who claimed to have caused the
arrest of the two suspects, indicated that he was resting under a tree at
Asemasudu when the two suspects approached him to say they wanted spare parts
to buy.

“I told them no one sells spare parts in the area. But one of them
came closer and said they needed human parts,” the resident claimed, adding “I
told them I couldn’t help. But as they were leaving, I realized they were
carrying a sack and I demanded to know the content.”

According to the witness, the suspects resisted, for which reason
he raised the alarm for others to join him, and when the sack was opened they
found a human skull.

“We quickly arrested the two and handed them to the police in
Sekondi,” he added.

When journalists went to the Sekondi Police Station, hundreds of
people had thronged the place to catch a glimpse of the suspects.

The police declined to speak to the media and when the Western Regional
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olivia Adiku, was contacted, she indicated
that she was out of the region.

Meanwhile, DAILY GUIDE has gathered that but
for the intervention of the police in Sekondi, the suspects would have been
lynched by the angry residents.
