A strong, blunt and opinionated young woman as she is, it came as a surprise when news flooded several blogs that Caroline Sampson, a celebrated TV/Radio personality and rapper quit pursuing her passion because of a blunt comment she passed on female Ghanaian artist Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah otherwise known as MzBel.
On Thursday May 31, news went viral that the host of ShoutsOnY, a music request show on Accra based Y107.9FM had in an interview with Nii Kpakpo Thompson on Tonight on Viasat 1 TV revealed she quit television programme Celebrity Fan Zone because of MzBel.
However, speaking to www.nydjlive.com in interview, the media personality who recently celebrated a decade in the industry, Caroline explained her submission was only misinterpreted and that her decision to quit was quite personal.
“I quit as a co-host because people were not ready to accept situations as they are and preferred I massaged issues which I wasn’t ready for. I have my own principles and I stick to that. I’m blunt, just like that.
That was what the show was supposed to be and not to save situations just because of our relations with people. I only cited MzBel’s case as one of the moment’s I realized it was just me against the world. I didn’t quit because of herâ€, she said.
Many were surprised at her reason for quitting and felt heartbroken. Among them is Diamond Appiah (a staunch critic of MzBel) who shared a lengthy post on Instagram. According to her, the industry was full of fake people and needed honest and blunt people like Caroline to put things right.
