However, the two remaining suspects – Sabastian Hukportie, 27, electrician; and Jacob Anyore, aka Taller, 32, factory worker, were picked following their alleged involvement in another robbery.

They made away with four laptops, 12 mobile phones, a CCTV receiver, a motorbike and cash sum of GH¢20,000.

The suspects were said to have struck the head of the 70-year-old Chinese, Yoa Yong Xiang, with a cement block after which they robbed the facility.

Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, the Prampram Divisional Crime Office Superintendent, Cecilia Arko, said that on April 1, 2019, police had information that at about 2:40am, some five armed robbers attacked TT Quarry Company and killed Young Xiang Yao.

Crime scene investigation led to the discovery of two motorbikes which were abandoned in a nearby bush.

Superintendent Arko said police investigation revealed that the unregistered motorbike retrieved at the scene was later registered with number M-19-GT 1008 and the owner’s name as Gladys Afagbedzi of Ashaiman.

When Gladys Afagbedzi was arrested, she told the police that the motorbike belonged to her son, Sabastian Hukportie, who had used her name for the registration. The police then arrested Sabastian Hukportie, who admitted ownership of the motorbike.

“Sabastian told police that he gave the motorbike to one Noah Sokpui for commercial purpose after he was warned to stop ridding. He further told police that Noah called to inform him on same date that the said motorbike was stolen but he gathered that Noah was still in possession of the motorbike,” the police officer said.

Further investigation showed that Noah and four others went to rob the TT Quarry site and killed the Chinese.

She said the police later arrested all the suspects from their various hideouts and were in police custody.

On August 6, 2019, one of the accomplices, Jacob Anyore, was again involved in another robbery at Community 2 on July 30, 2019, and was arrested.
