Bishop Obinim

Founder and Leader of the International Godsway Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim has claimed that he had the express permission of ‘his father’, Jesus to go and challenge traditional priest, Okomfo Yaw Appiah to a spiritual battle.

Daniel Obinim has declared himself the winner of a spiritual contest he arranged with one traditional priest, Okomfo Yaw Appiah, Tuesday.

The controversial man of God declared himself the winner of the contest which was scheduled to take place at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi after the traditional priest failed to turn up at the venue.

The contest attracted more than 2000 inhabitants of the Kumasi metropolis to the venue, majority of whom were members of his congregation.

With the priest failing to turn up for the contest, Bishop Obinim chose to celebrate his ‘victory.’

Bishop Obinim speaking on Adom FM’s Morning Show, ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Wednesday said he initially declined the invitation to challenge the traditional priest to a spiritual contest but was moved by the ‘continuous rantings’ of Okomfo Appiah on radio.

Upon hearing the numerous claims of the traditional priest, Bishop Obinim said he tasked his junior pastors to gather for him, various radio recordings of Olonfo Appiah.
“When they brought it, I said this man has gone too far by claiming that if I fail to come out to contest him, he would come to my house and strip me of my powers,” he said.

After listening to the tapes, Bishop Obinim said he petitioned his ‘father Jesus’ on what the traditional priest was doing to him and it was his father who gave him the permission to go for the challenge.

“I saw Jesus Christ who said the guy has gone far and that even me Jesus Christ is angry…he was very angry and sad and hence ordered me to go and meet him in Kumasi…,” he added.

Bishop Obinim added that ‘his father Jesus’ further assured him that ‘he has entrusted the life of Komfo Appiah into my hands, so I should go and contest him.”

According to him, the terms of the contest dictated that the two would be allowed to sleep in coffins in turns for thirty minutes.

The one who fails to resurrect after thirty minutes, Obinim said would be declared dead and the loser of the contest.

It was based on this assurance from Jesus that Obinim claims he went to Kumasi to contest the traditional priest.

He told listeners the coffins were bought by journalists in Kumasi.
