Plans are in the pipeline to complete the abandoned Mother  & Baby Unit (MBU) project at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

The present government sees the completion of the project, which started more than four decades ago, as a major step in solving congestion at KATH.

In this regard, the Akufo-Addo’s administration is doing everything in its capacity to get contractors back on site to complete the facility.

Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, KATH CEO, who disclosed this, expressed his optimism that the project would experience a lifeline soon.

“We are hopeful that given the engagements and processes so far executed work is expected to resume this year on the 42-year old MBU project for eventual completion,” he indicated.

Dr. Owusu-Danso stated that everything shows that this present NPP government would do whatever it can to help complete the project once and for all.

“Signals from the government shows that they are committed and determined to make sure that the old MBU project at KATH would be completed for us,” he hinted.

Dr. Owusu-Danso was speaking to journalists during the opening ceremony of KATH’s end of year performance review workshop, which was held on Monday.

The CEO disclosed that it would take contractors two years to complete the facility to enable KATH to use it to improve healthcare delivery at the hospital.
