EDMUND
KYEI, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) first Vice Chairman for Asokwa
Constituency, has insisted that majority of the bad road networks in the
country would be fixed by the Akufo-Addo government.

According
to him, President Akufo-Addo is determined to construct modern road networks as
part of efforts the President and his team are making to accelerate the
economic transformation of the country.

He
told DAILY
GUIDE
over the weekend that he is always surprised when the President’s
opponents, particularly members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), talk
about poor road networks in the country.

“The
roads were in a deplorable state when we assumed the mantle of leadership
because the NDC administration failed woefully to fix them but today the same
political grouping is turning around to point fingers at the President and his
government,” he said.

“The
President and his Vice have been working hard to get the needed funds to
construct first-class roads in the country. The NPP government is noted for
delivering on its promises and surely all the promises that we made, notably
about the road sector, will be fulfilled,” he stressed.

“The
Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr. Kwasi Amoako Atta, is capable of supervising
the fixing of bad roads and I would like to tell Ghanaians to be patient for
this government to execute the projects for the benefit of everybody,” he
added.

He
said the road sector is saddled with huge debts due to the extent of
mismanagement of funds by the NDC, adding “they created a rosy picture about
road networks in the country but current events are exposing them big time.”

He
said ex-President Mahama told the whole world that he had fixed many roads in
the country but it is turning out that wherever the current President has been,
the major discussion on the table has been how to fix the bad roads.

“It
tells everybody that Mr. Mahama and his NDC were hoodwinking all of us.
President Akufo-Addo is not ready to lie to anyone. He will tell you the true
state of affairs,” he pointed out.

Mr. Kyei said the pace of development in the country is making the opposition NDC frustrated. He said emphatically that Ghanaians would reward President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government another term to continue the good policies they are implementing.
