Kwasi Amoako-Atta and his team on inspection
Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Minister of Roads and Highway, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of work on some roads being constructed in the Atiwa and Kwahu areas of the Eastern Region.
The Minister disclosed this to journalists after inspecting some road projects over the weekend.
Currently, a 5-kilometre road from Odweanoma Junction at Kwahu-Atibie in the Kwahu South District is receiving a major facelift.
According to the minister, the paragliding site has attracted international attention and become a focal point during Easter.
He expressed optimism that the road would be completed within four months.
The Minister, who was accompanied by the Regional Minister Eric Kwakye Darfour and some DCEs in the area, first made a stopover at Kwabeng before moving to the Kwahu areas.
The Minister and his entourage were briefed about the construction of an emergency bridge that links Kwabeng to Kade.
The Regional Director of the Ghana Highways Authority, Charles Adubofuor, said that the bridge was recently destroyed by some a ‘galamsey’ truck driver.
Mr. Adubofuor said the driver of the truck absconded after he destroyed the bridge.
Mr. Amoako-Atta tasked the Regional Minister and DCE to launch a manhunt for the perpetrators.
He also inspected the Kwabeng inner roads, proposed Kwabeng lorry station, Abomosu by-pass and drains along the Kwabeng roads.
At Mpreaso, he inspected the erection of traffic lights to manage vehicular movements.
He charged the contractor and leadership of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to work together to achieve the objectives.
Meanwhile, Oterkpolu and Okwenya bridges in the Krobo area are part of the 50 bridges earmarked for construction this year.
