Ex-Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has said he is always ready to offer nuggets of advice to young footballers.

The veteran striker said he is always open to guiding the young ones, but noted that it is up to them to either accept or reject the advice he offers.

Gyan is currently Ghana’s all-time top scorer, having scored 51 goals for the Black Stars. He is also Africa’s greatest scorer at the FIFA World Cup with six goals.

“Definitely, anytime we see them we try to give our advice,” the former Sunderland forward told TV3, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.

“It’s up to them too, whether they take it or not. There are a lot of people who look up to me, there are a lot of young ones coming out, seeing me on the screens. So anytime anyone needs my advice, I am around.”

Gyan has not featured for the Black Stars since playing at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

At 36, he is also currently without a club after parting ways with Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities last year.

This followed an unsuccessful one-year spell with the Royals, where he made just five appearances.

Having by blighted by injuries and weight issues in recent years, the striker hasn’t played active football for several months now.

Gyan served as a pundit for SuperSport TV during the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, but insists he is not retired yet.
