Agnes Nkrumah’s one-and-a-half-year old baby Stephen Otchere is being held hostage at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) over her failure to foot the bills.

This has caused her severe emotional trauma as she is pleading with churches, philanthropists, and institutions to come to her aid.

The child was admitted to the Burns and Intensive Care Unit on July 8, 2017, and discharged on August 16; 2017, but has been detained due to the inability to fulfill his medical bills at the hospital.

According to Principal Nursing Officer, Madam Theresa Kwaah the parents owe the hospital to the tune of GHC10, 181.00.

The mother of the baby, Agnes Nkrumah has so far spent about GHC2,000 but can’t afford to service the rest of the bills since she is unemployed.

“I was boiling water in a silver on a coal pot, so I went to the room to pick something, by the time I returned, the water had poured on my son and he was wallowing in pain,” she told a Kumasi-based radio station.
