The competition‒ categorised in men Groups A and B, ladies Groups A and B, as well as local pros‒ was in celebration of the ‘Year of Return’.

Celebrity Golf Club’s Mercy Werner dominated in the ladies category A with 72 points, a stroke better than seasoned golfer Mrs. Margaret Owusu Baah, who in turn beat Florence Etwi-Barimah (Lady Scientific) by four strokes.

It was C. Oppong, who won the ladies Group B event with 76 points, followed by Gladys Awuni 77 points and Celebrity Golf Club’s Helen Appah, 78 points.

Charles Martey picked the senior’s category top prize, followed by Josep Odei, while E.K Owusu swung spiritedly to win the pros category followed Kwame Ligbidi and Eric Henaku.

The closest to the pin prize went to Rev. Augustine Mensah, with Helen Appah picking the ladies category, while Jerry Tetteh went home with the longest drive prize. Margaret Owusu Baah also walked away with the ladies category.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, who performed the tee-off ceremony, said the Centre of the World is located on the Tema Country Golf course, and government would want to take advantage of that to develop the course into a world-class standard in order to host international competitions.
