Grand Connect, organiser of the maiden edition of Comedy & Poetry Awards (COPO Awards), has announced that the official launch of the awards scheme will take place in August in Accra.
COPO Awards is an annual awards event that seeks to honour personalities and celebrate the act of comedy and poet in Ghana, with the focus of projecting and promoting the creative art of comedians and poets.
It further seeks to motivate and project the act, which in turn protects and promotes the growth and development of the industry to the world at large.
The date and venue for the main awards ceremony will be made known to the media and the industry professionals who are expected to attend the launch.
It is expected that the juicy package the organisers and their sponsors have for the award winners will also be unveiled at the launch.
The aim of the awards scheme, according to organisers, is to honour and appreciate comedians, poets and other industry players who worked enormously within the calendar year of the scheme and whose work(s) generated the most public excitement.
It will provide an international platform through which the Ghanaian comedy and poetry industry can be marketed.
They added that it will also motivate and boost the morale of comedians and poets in the creative industry, as well as promote and protect the act of comedy and poetry in Ghana.
Some of the comedy legends who are likely to be honoured at the event include Agya Koo, Akrobeto, KSM, among others.
COPO Awards is supported by Limpex Impression.
