Contouring the face is the key part of makeup amongst most girls today.

Contouring is when you use a matte powder, cream, or pencil product that’s two shades darker than your skin tone to shade areas you’d like to define or reshape, like your nose, forehead, chin, and cheekbones.

Do you know that you can contour your lips just as you do with your face in order for your lips to appear bigger and fuller? Though this trend has been capturing the attention of many only recently, the techniques of lip contouring date back to many decades.

To contour your lips like a pro you, you’re going to need a concealer, a white liner, lip liner and either one or two lipsticks depending on your preference. Whether you are you going for a subtle pout or an ombré lip pout, it is important to know the kind of lip look you are going for.

Below are steps to follow when creating a lip look of your choice;

To start with, apply foundation to your entire lip. This helps to create a bare canvas by concealing your natural lip colour, perfect for those with pigmented lips. Next using a white eyeliner, softly feather the natural contour of your lips. If you wish to make your lips appear fuller, overline your lips a little. If you wish to recede the natural shape of your lips, draw within.

Having sketched out the basic shape, go over the lines with a lip liner matching your lipstick. If you’re going for a red pout, use a berry pink or chili red lip liner for best effects. The white liner serves as a guide for you to draw on, so follow it carefully.

The next step is to apply your lipstick using a lip brush for more precision. Start applying the lipstick from your cupid’s bow towards each corner. Re-do this step from the outer corner to the center of your lip to ensure that the product has applied well and evenly. Finish off by applying the concealer around your “new lip line” and blend away.

Within two minutes, you would have achieved fuller looking lips. This technique definitely requires practice but once you have mastered the skill, you can skip using the white liner and even use a combination of lip liner shades to do an ombré lip.
