Elon Musk has taken control of Twitter and ousted the CEO, chief financial officer and the company’s top lawyer, two people familiar with the deal said Thursday night.
“The Bird is Free” Musk said in a tweet after finally taking control of the social media platform. Prior to the take over there had been a lot of back and forth between Musk and representatives of the company. At a point Musk pulled out of the deal but a court order was issued and also shareholders had to step in.
On Thursday, Musk completed his $44 Billion take over of the platform on the eve of the court-appointed deadline to seal the deal. Immediately after the deal was finalized Musk fired the CEO Parag Agrawal and other company top executives. The executives also received handsome disbursements after their dismissal.
Musk had earlier tweeted he was buying Twitter because “it is important to the future of civilization”
