Ghana star Michael Essien has reflected on his midfield partnership with Frank Lampard and Claude Makelele at Chelsea.
The 37-year-old enjoyed a fruitful stay at Chelsea and won a number of trophies lining up alongside the aforementioned duo.
Essien made a big-money move to Stamford Bridge in 2005 to play under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho.
The Blues spent £24.4 million to price Essien away from Lyon, making him the club’s record signing at the time.

The Ghanaian went on to enjoy massive success at Chelsea, winning multiple titles, including the Premier League and the Champions League.
Essien has now looked back on his partnership with Lampard and Makelele with whom he flourished in the middle of the park.
The trio were pivotal in Mourinho’s Chelsea side that won back-to-back Premier League titles in the 2005/06 and 2006/07 seasons.
In a Twitter post, Essien shared a photo of himself with the duo celebrating a goal.
He then asked his followers to describe his partnership with Lampard and Frenchman Makelele.
