The Cape
Coast Stadium will host Central and Western Regions in the GNPC Ghana Fastest
Human regional meet this Saturday, organisers have said.
So far,
the Northern and Ashanti Regions have had their share of the competition, which
is aimed at unearthing talents in short distance running.
Ghana
Fastest Human founder, Reks Brobby, has described the Tamale meet held recently
as successful, considering the level of competitiveness.
To him,
the Central and Western meet is likely to follow the same pattern, considering
news emerging from coaches of the athletes.
Ahead of the event, he said, “We keep
receiving refreshing news from coaches of the combatants, and if that is
anything to go by then, we should expect uncompromising heats.
“As
organisers and sponsors, everything is set, we are praying for a good weather
and better conditioning of the athletes.”
Organisers
have stated that at stake is a Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) electronic
timer to ensure high level efficiency.
Free
Indomie will be served as part of efforts to attract fans to the stadium.
A-400m,
800m, 1500m, long jump, high jump, shot put and pole vault have been rolled out
as side attraction events.
The
project, which is aimed at reviving short distance race in schools, has GNPC as
headline sponsor, supported by Adidas, Moringa King, Wrenco Printing,
KriateLync Advertising Company Limited, Indomie Instant Noodles and Global
Media Alliance.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that based on INTERCO results and past GAA competitions, the best eight will be chosen for the 400 race after registration today, and it is to be announced before Friday.
