The Ghana Immigration Service has cautioned Ghanaians not to travel to Togo on Friday due to a possible demonstration in Lome by that country’s Coalition of Opposition Political Parties.
Immigration authorities at the Ghana-Togo border in the Volta Region who issued the travel alert Thursday said they have picked intelligence of a planned protest march by the parties on Friday as part of the ongoing political turmoil in Togo.

Deputy Commissioner of Immigration in charge of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in the Volta Region, Mr. Isaac Owusu Mensah, therefore asked Ghanaians wishing to travel to Togo on that day to be “cautious”. Mr. Mensah also said the Aflao-Lome border would remain opened all the same.
He again advised Ghanaians not to get themselves involved in the political activity of Togo

After gendarmerie killed at least two protesters last weekend, The Coalition of Opposition Parties in Togo called on President Faure Gnassingbe to step down.
Over the weekend, some members of the opposition demanded an end to the Gnassingbe dynasty, calling for a return to the 1992 constitution.
At least two persons were reported dead while several others were injured after the protest rallies. Others were also arrested.
