Kofi Amankwah, a 34-year-old illegal miner is in the custody of the Western Regional Police for slaughtering his 54-year-old mother to death.
Reports indicate that the suspect had blamed his mother, Auntie Akua Ampomaa of opposing to his desire to marry his choice of women in the area.
The crime was allegedly committed at Wassa Dadieso in the Western Region.
According to some residents, Kofi Amankwa butchered the mother with a machete on her way to the farm due to his dissatisfaction with the deceased’s stand concerning his love affairs.
Amankwah is purported to have said the mother had always been opposed to any lady he proposed to marry, leaving him unmarried for several years.
The shameful act was dreadful to residents of the area, one of whom said “unfortunately, at the time of the incident, no one was there to save the woman,” the distressed resident lamented.
Apparently, some members of the community arrested and stripped Kofi Amankwah naked before they handed him over to the police after family members found the old woman lying in a pool of blood.
