Kwesi Appiah has announced a strong starting line-up including the Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah for Ghana’s round of 16 tie against Tunisia on Monday at 7:00pm Ghanaian time.

This will be Afriyie Acquah’s first start in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Torino midfielder was a delight to watch as he brought stability in the Black Stars midfield in their 2-0 win over Guinea Bissau following his introduction in the second half.

His performance against the African Wild Dogs has earned him a place in the starting line-up.

The other change in the team that won 2-0 against Guinea Bissau is Joseph Aidoo, being replaced by Kassim Nuhu, who was suspended for the Black Stars’ final Group F game: In all Kwesi Appiahn has made just two changes.

Richard Ofori has won the hearts of Ghanaians with his fantastic saves that rescued Black Stars on several occasions in the group stage; hence he has an automatic spot in post.

Kwesi Appiah maintained Andy Yiadom and Baba Rahman on the right and left sides of the lateral defence respectively.

John Boye and Kassim Nuhu will pair at the back, while Afriyie Acquah and Mubarak Owusu will operate from the heart of Ghana’s midfield.

Coach Appiah has deployed Samuel Owusu, Andre Ayew and Thomas Partey in attacking midfield roles, with Jordan Ayew leading the lines in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Below is Ghana’s starting line-up against Tunisia:

Richard Ofori, Andy Yiadom, Baba Rahman, Jonathan Mensah, Kassim Nuhu, Mubarak Wakaso, Afriyie Acquah, Samuel Owusu, Jordan Ayew Thomas Partey and Andre Ayew
