On Thursday, October 20, Liz Truss resigned as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, UK, after 44 days in Office. Truss who succeded Boris Johnson who resigned from the position in July due to a series of scandals.

Earlier, the former prime minister had stated that she was a fighter, not a quitter, and would continue in office despite the call for her resignation from various quarters.  This statement she made 24 hours before announcing that she would be resigning.

Truss said she resigned on Thursday after a rising chorus of members of her own Conservative Party called for her resignation. However, she would continue in office until her successor is chosen next week.
