Videos of some soldiers mercilessly beating up prospective National Service personnel in Accra surfaced on the internet few days ago.

The incident took place at the National Service Secretariat office in Accra where over 400 people were reported to have already queued as at 4:00AM.

The NSS registration for this year which began on Monday July 24, 2017 was marked with long queues and minor disturbances as is the case in previous years.

The uninvited Military officers had intervened in a bid to calm the chaotic nature of the queue which backfired as there was more chaos after their said intervention in front of the office

As usual, the first day of the 2017 National Service registration began on a rather rocky note due to the number of prospective personnel that showed up.

A lady was said to have bled profusely from a blow reportedly struck by one of the military officers on her head.

The soldiers used sticks, belts and batons to strike the personnel.

The secretariat in a much to do about nothing attempt has assured registrants that the number of receiving points would be increased at the various registration centers in order to prevent past subsequent activities like this very unfortunate one.

It baffles many as to why the National Service Secretariat in a digital age still opt for a rather archaic manual registration process that has been in existence since time immemorial

is this the military’s own way of avenging Major Mahama’s death?
