The IGP with some senior officers at the site

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) David Asante-Apeatu has inspected land meant for the building of the North East Regional headquarters of the Ghana Police Service.

The 10-acre land was donated by the overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohugu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga.

The Nayiri urged the IGP to bring more personnel to the area and also equip them with policing skills to help them discharge their duties effectively.

The Nayiri said police in the North East find it difficult to fight crime due to the lack of resources and called on the IGP to provide more vehicles and other equipment.

The IGP thanked the overlord of Mamprugu for donating the land to help enhance security in the region.

Mr. Asante-Apeatu assured the Nayiri that more police personnel would be deployed to the area to help fight crime.

He later toured the site with the Northern Regional Police Commander, COP Timothy Yoosa Bonga and other senior police officers in the region.

After the inspection, the IGP said that recommendations would be sent to the headquarters in Accra for plans to be made to build the new regional police headquarters.

He encouraged police personnel in the North East Region to continue to work hard, adding that he would ensure that adequate resources are channeled to help them fight against crime.
