Piracy is known to be one of the biggest banes of the movie industry. Arguments against the practice are not only based on how illegal or immoral it is but the fact that it accounts for an incalculable loss of revenue to those who actually paid to produce and distribute the original works.

Despite all attempts to fight the canker, many still engage in the evil act.

‘Lionheart’, a movie that was directed and produced by Nigerian Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji is the latest to be pirated as some unscrupulous persons have been spotted selling pirated copies for N150 in Lagos traffic.

‘Lion Heart’ is a movie that captures the challenges of a female in a male-dominated industry. It tells the story of Adaeze, a young lady who steps up to the challenge when her father, Ernest Obiagu, is forced to take a step back from his company due to health issues.

The movie which stars top Nollywood actors Genevieve Nnaji, Peter Okoye, Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie, and Onyeka Onwenu was first screened at the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival.
This was hours after Netflix acquired the movie.

Genevieve says the idea of Lionheart came from her “desire and hunger to shed light and to speak the truth of what it’s like to be a young [woman] that is trying to make it in a world that is dominated by men.”

She further stressed that ”it was equally important to me that the movie was light-hearted and warm, so the environment in which it was told was crucial as well.”

Since its release, the movie has received s a lot of positive reviews from both stakeholders and movie enthusiast.
