PIRATES HAVE kidnapped five crew members onboard a Ghana flagged fishing vessel at Ningo-Pramrpam Wednesday evening.
The incident happened around 6:30pm when the vessel dubbed ‘Atlantic Princess’ was sailing to the Tema Fishing harbour to dock when it was attacked.
The victims were Korean, Chinese and Russian nationals who were captured by the seven pirates all wielding AK 47 assault rifles.
Pirates who were of Nigerian accent information gathered by DGN Online indicates that “They made no demand but said they came purposely for the expatriates.They took their personal belongings including unspecified amount of money.
The vessel was approached by the suspicious pirates onboard a speed boat with seven persons onboard.
Meanwhile, the vessel has been sailed to the Tema Port.
Officials from embassies of the victims have visited the Tema Port to ascertain first hand information for necessary action.
