We have received a significant number of disturbing reports at 247acemedia, which clearly indicate that the agency established to regulate safe vehicle use and enforce traffic laws has deviated from its original purpose. Rather than providing succor to Deltans and residents, it has become a breeding ground for corrupt, extortionist individuals who frustrate unsuspecting victims.

One report from the Warri area, specifically the Ejeba axis, reveals that members of the agency wearing brown and black pants have gone on a rampage, arresting motorists for minor traffic offenses and demanding exorbitant amounts of money that are often unaccounted for. These individuals insist on cash payments without any traceable evidence of the transaction.

The Warri Niger Cat, also known as NPA road, has become a source of concern for motorists due to the presence of different “turns” created by members of an agency. These turns have now become traps for unsuspecting drivers, as they are not marked as illegal turns. Once a driver takes these turns, individuals on tricycles and motorbikes suddenly appear out of nowhere and accost their victims.

They then proceed to put a tire lock on the vehicle and demand that the driver accompany them to their office, located in the former NEPA building on NPA road, around David Edjor barrack area.

Upon arrival at the office, the agency members deflate the vehicle’s tires and demand a fine of #95,000 (ninety-five thousand Naira), which is supposed to be paid at a bank. However, when the driver indicates that they do not have that amount of money, negotiations for extortion begin. It is important to note that there are no signs indicating that these turns are illegal, making it easy for motorists to fall into this trap.

The victim has reported that they were responsible for overseeing many vehicles and, after much negotiation, the minimum amount they would accept for collection is #30,000 (Thirty thousand Naira). These payments are made in cash without any evidence of the traffic offense or payment being deposited into a bank account.

This situation is particularly troubling for the citizens of Delta, who are already struggling due to the significant decrease in the value of the Naira and other economic difficulties. Despite the financial, mental, and psychological challenges this is causing for Deltans and residents, these individuals are solely focused on profiting from their position of power.

Meanwhile, All attempts of 247AceMedia to reach the Chairman of the Board and the General Commander as at the time of filing this report has proved abortive and unsuccessful.
