The
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey made this known in an
address to graduands at the second session of the 11th Congregation
of the University, last Thursday.

“I
am glad to announce that UPSA has received accreditation from the National
Accreditation Board to run Master of Arts in Peace, Security and Intelligence,
Master of Arts in Branding and Communication and MBA in
Impact Entrepreneurship and Innovation
for the 2019/2020 academic year,” he revealed.

He
added that the new programmes have meticulously been structured and will meet
the growing demands of businesses and address modern challenges in the area of branding,
entrepreneurship and security.

He
said “as the only professional university in Ghana, we are mindful of academic
programmes that would inure to the benefit of society and the timing of these
programmes is just apt for the times we find ourselves.”

In all, a total of
1,360 students graduated from the Faculty of Accounting and Finance which was
held at the University’s newly commissioned Auditorium.

Out this figure
were 1,124 Undergraduates and 236 Diploma students. For the undergraduate
level, 36 obtained First Class, 356 Second Class Upper, 356 Second Class Lower,
269 Third Class and 105 Passes. While 11
of the diplomates attained Distinction, 161 obtained credit and 64 secured a
Pass.

The Vice-Chancellor
also urged graduands to “get ahead of change” by refusing to be complacent with the first degrees and
diplomas they have obtained. He says change is inevitable in life, and the only
way one could get ahead of change was constant improvement.

“Today marks an important day in your lives, yet the beginning of a journey… I am admonishing you to pursue your masters’ degrees and professional qualifications. Never get complacent. This is the only way you can keep ahead of change,” he said.
