Obeta John, a 27 year old Yahoo boy has been arrested for beating his girlfriend, Idowu Buhari to death for refusing to release money his ‘client’ paid into her account
in Eredu Ishara area of the state.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, November 29, in Eredu Ishara area of Ogun state, following a distress call received at Ode-Remo divisional headquarters.
He was said to have locked the deceased — an HND1 Mass Communication student of Gateway Polytechnic Saapade — in his room and went on to beat her until she died.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Wednesday, November 30, said police arrived the scene and met the victim in the pool of her blood.
She was quickly rushed to State Hospital Ishara, but was pronounced dead on arrival, while the suspect, an indigene of Enugu State, was immediately arrested.
“On interrogation, the suspect, Obeta John, informed the police that he is an internet fraudster, and that certain amount of money from one of his victims was paid into the account of his girlfriend.
When he asked for the money, she refused to relinquish it, which led to him locking her in the room and beating her with the hopes of getting the money from her but she died while he was beating her up.
