14th July 2017 will go down as a historic day in the Ghanaian music industry books as it witnessed the launch of the much anticipated g.o.d album by Grey Nana Antwi Kari-Kari popularly known as Grey.

The event which took place at the ZEN gardens in Labone near the Labone SDA church was heavily attended by family, friends, and fans of the musician who had to patiently wait for a year for yet another treat from the musician.

The event kicked off with performances from the likes of CJ Biggerman, Datz, and Willie Kay amongs others and was climaxed with a performance from Grey himself. Grey performed some of his hit songs from his debut studio album ‘Enyaa’ as well as some songs from the g.o.d album.

The g.o.d album is a follow up to Grey’s debut studio album Enyaa which was released exactly a year ago.

When asked about the choice of title he said g.o.d is an abbreviation of ‘ghetto, odd, dangerous’ which is what the album represents.

“Ghetto is the hustle side of whatever I do so when you listen to the album you really gonna feel the struggle and the pain we put in what we do and the odd that I put into the album is me singing and my fans don’t really know that I can sing. To  even sing on afro beats or highlife beats and the dangerous side is me knowing how to raga but I really wanted to keep it beneath, it wasn’t something I wanted people to know cos I didn’t wanna be tagged as a danehall artist but putting this album together is something that people’s been asking for, like Grey we like your music but you are too hardcore or you too kinda positive we really want to dance for now so I decided to put this album together that everybody can have a feel, just for them to know is not like im just tryna be that type of artist who just wanna do the rap but at the end of the day I can show my other side you know what I mean? So g.o.d album is really to satisfy people who really wanna dance who really wanna see me do the next level and like take this game to the next level.” He told Daud of 247acemedia TV.

Grey first caught public eye when he joined the now defunct group ‘mobile boys’ owned by Reggie Rockstone, obviously due to the glare that accompanied his talent which not even the hiplife ‘Grandpapa’ couldn’t resist. As a solo artist Grey has released two studio albums under AMI music group saying he doesn’t just do music because he feels he wants to say something but does music because there is something to be said.
