The
Chief Executive of the Nation Builders Corps, NABCO, Anyars Ibrahim has
cautioned all trainees under the programme against collecting double payment.

According
to him, trainees found guilty of the act will be made to refund all the amounts
received and dealt with according to the law.

He
also cautioned supervisors of NABCO trainees against covering up absenteeism, unproductive
attitudes under their modules as they would also not be spared if found
culpable.

He
said since the scheme offered the unemployed youth three years training and
experience gathering, laziness and all forms of unproductive attitudes must not
be encouraged.

Mr.
Anyars gave the caution in Ho during a meeting with regional coordinators of
the Module Implementation Partners (MIPs) of NABCO. The
meeting was aimed at evaluating the activities of NABCO in the region so far.

He said
that as part of the effort to train personnel, an online training platform
called NABCO Talent Academy has been developed to equip trainees with
employable skills for further career development.

“This
program NABCO would enable the trainees to have the employment requirements of
two, three years working experience and also meet other requirements of an
employer,” he stressed.

The
NABCO Boss commended the Module Implementation Partners (MIPs) for their teamwork
which he said is helping to achieve the scheme’s aim of building an employable
generation of Ghanaian youth and reducing rural urban migration due to lack of
jobs.

Institutions
that engage the NABCO trainees were also grateful that the trainees have filled
a lot of gaps in their workplaces.

That
notwithstanding they complained of delay in payment of allowances and leave
application for trainees. They also complained that some trainees refused
postings to deprived areas.

The
Coordinator of Feed Ghana for instance complained about inadequate and
disproportionate allocation of trainees at places their services are most
needed.

“Only three trainees have been posted to Oti region which is a major food basket, while 40 trainees have been posted to the Ho Municipal, an area where there is little work to do.”
